Beach Waves: Not just for Summer!

We are smack bang in the middle of January, and that means your skin is a little less dewy and bronzed, your make-up is a little bit heavier and you’ve more than likely added a few more layers into your every-day wardrobe. It also means that it has been awhile since we’ve seen the beloved mermaid wave. Adored by beauty girls everywhere, the mermaid wave has reached iconic beauty status summer after summer over the past couple of years. But why should those sexy, tousled and voluminously textured waves be limited to just three short summer months? Why should we have to retire our all-time favorite beauty look just because of the weather?

While effortless, straight-from-the-beach- mermaid waves definitely seem more at home at a summer barbecue than at a snowy après ski event, that doesn’t mean the ever-chic, piecey-strand style can’t still be winter appropriate. The winter 2016 runway shows at fashion week saw their version of the mermaid wave across several different designer stages, making it the trend of the season. Dubbed the winter wave by beauty insiders, this version has lots of volume and a slanted side-parting, adding even more texture to the look. And the more randomly placed and tousled the waves, the better.

If you aren’t rocking the trend yet this season, you should be.  It’s super easy to recreate winter waves without leaving your house with a wet head to air-dry in the cold. Start by applying styliste ULTIME Biotin+ Volume and Vitality Superb Volume Mousse throughout your damp hair and rough dry with your fingers and blow-dryer, keeping your head upside down to give you as much root lift as possible. Once your hair is completely dry, insert your parting on your preferred side. Haphazardly curl your hair using a medium barrel curling iron, taking inch wide sections. Let your curls cool before running your fingers through your hair to break up the curls.

For a sexier bed-head look, amp it up by sprinkling some styliste ULTIME Biotin+ Volume and Vitality Magic Volume Powder throughout your hair to add extra grit and texture. For a softer, more romantic look, brush curls out gently, then spritz on styliste ULTIME Crystal Shine and Hold Laminating Shine Hairspray for a glassy, mirror like shine.

Look hot his season and combat the winter blues by creating laid-back, fuss-free, fresh-from-the-sea mermaid waves using your favorite stylist ULTIME products. Pair your winter waves with ruby red lips and a bold liquid liner, for a look that’s totally on trend for winter 2016. The temperatures might be dropping, your skin may be chapped, your lips cracked, and your rain boots filled with icy slush, but your hair will be worthy of a tropical island winter escape.
