NY Fashion Week: Spring 2016

September’s fashion marathon officially made its way through New York City once again, bringing the trends for Spring 2016 to the masses. We took note of the common hair trends among the shows that took place during Fashion Week and are bringing you some of our favorites, along with our easy-to-follow break downs for achieving each look.

In contrast to the messy, textured bohemian waves of seasons past, the fall runways were all about gorgeous, silky-smooth waves. The goal with these waves is to get them as volume-free as possible. Start by running Schwarzkopf styliste ULTIME Elastin Curls & Moisture Curl Defining Cream through damp hair prior to blowing it out. Once your hair is dry, mist it with Schwarzkopf styliste ULTIME Crystal Shine & Hold Laminating Shine Hair Spray and with a wide barrel curling iron, make big, swingy bends around the head by holding the iron against the hair and wrapping large sections halfway around the barrel for back-and-forth movement.

An unexpected trend we saw come down the runways was the dread lock. The girl who can pull off this chic but gritty look is one who can not only hang with the boys, but still pull off a party dress. Luckily, this season’s dreads can be achieved without having to give up your shampoo. Tightly twirl two-inch sections of your hair and run a flatiron slowly down the length. Once you've done the whole head, loosely pull the twists apart to thicken them and then mist Schwarzkopf styliste ULTIME Elastic Curls & Moisture Soft Tousle Spray all over for a rough feel.

Another look we loved off the spring runways were the full and fluffy curls that paid homage to the way naturally curly haired girls wore their hair back in the 70’s. Get the look by making a deep side part and applying Schwarzkopf styliste ULTIME Elastin Curls & Moisture Curl Defining Cream. Make two rows of buns with two-inch sections of hair and pin to your head to air dry. Once the buns are fully dry, unravel them and brush out the waves with a soft bristle brush to create soft volume. Finish the look with a hair accessory where you hair is tucked back behind one ear.

The Fall 2015 Fashion Week saw lots of fresh and fabulous hair trends, all of which are easy to recreate with our how-to guide and your favorite Schwarzkopf products.
