Waterfall Braid hair
Super easy to do AND looks amazing!

These hairstyles look amazing, and are simple and quick to get right, what more could you want? Your buddies will think you’ve spent hours on these when in fact you only dragged yourself out of bed a few minutes ago. Try out one of these simple hairstyles (or all three!), which you’ll be able to master in next to no time. What’s also great is that these simple hairstyles work better on second day hair, so don’t worry if you’ve not had time to wash your locks, this works in your favor! Here’s a step-by-step guide to three seriously easy hairstyles!

Tousled ponytail

Pull the ponytail at both sides to keep it tight

Do you pull your hair back into a ponytail hairstyle simply because it’s the easiest thing to do and keeps your locks out of your face? Don’t worry, you don’t have to change your default hairstyle, but what about making it a bit funkier?

  1. Spray some sea salt or texturizing spray onto the middle part of your hair, then scrunch your locks to create a beach waves look.
  2. To give your ponytail more volume, you can tease the front part of your hair at the root before you secure it with an elastic.
  3. Smooth the sides of your hair with a brush, but make sure to leave the front and top a bit messy.
  4. Tie the ponytail with a hair tie and tease the hair to get the desired look.

Milkmaid braids

Pull out some strands at the front for a messier look

This isn’t just for people yodeling in the Alps, anyone can pull it off! It may look complicated, but it’s one of the simplest styles. Bangs make this look super cool, while no bangs give you a more sophisticated look.

  1. First, smooth down your hair with some serum or anti-frizz cream, then create a straight part from your forehead to the base of your neck (the straighter, the better!). Make sure you have the same amount of hair on both sides.
  2. Tie both sides with a hair tie, but bear in mind that it will be visible hairstyle is finished, so choose a clear hair tie or one that matches your hair color. Note: This also works without hair ties – you just start braiding without securing each ponytail first.
  3. Braid both sides. You can decide whether you want the braid to be tight or a bit looser depending on how polished you want the look to be in the end.
  4. Secure the braids on top of your head with bobby pins. The second braid should go behind the first, not on top of it. Work out for yourself how near your forehead the braids should be. Tuck the end of the braids under the opposite braid.

Waterfall hairstyle

The waterfall look works with any kind of hair but is more prominent with straighter hair

This style looks so much more difficult than it actually is. This simple hairstyle is done in minutes, but others will think it took hours and you don’t necessarily need straight hair for it to look amazing. A great advantage of this style is that it keeps your hair out of your face.

  1. Create a deep side part (this gives the easy hairstyle more of a cascading waterfall look than if you create a middle part).
  2. On the side with the most hair, separate the first section into three equal parts. The best way to braid the hair is to hold two of these portions in one hand and the third portion in the other hand.
  3. Now the braiding begins: Cross the left portion of hair over the middle portion, then cross the right portion of hair over the new middle portion (which started out as the left portion).
  4. After the first braiding sequence is done, start to incorporate more hair into the braid by collecting it from the top of your head. This portion is now thicker and should be crossed over the middle portion. Instead of crossing the right portion over the middle portion like in step 3, let go of the right portion of hair so it hangs down. This creates the waterfall effect. When it’s as far around your head as you want it, secure it with a hair tie.
