“The hair style takes second place so that the outfit shines.” This opinion dominated in the fashion houses of Anna Sui, Diane von Fuerstenberg, DKNY and Marc by Marc Jacobs. Accordingly, their fashion lines were shown mostly by models who wore their hair parted on one side and gathered in the neck. This philosophy certainly did not gain any footing with Carolina Herrera, Derek Lam und Oscar de la Renta. They obviously decided on big hair with plenty of volume around the crown of the head. Altuzarra and Rag and Bone were absolutely convinced that uneven middle partings combined with scraggy long waves were the perfect fit for their fall/winter fashion creations.

The shows in New Your City certainly delivered what they promised. Top hair stylist successfully competed with fashion designer for top honours in creativity. The voluminous mock bobs with star-studded hair slides by Rodarte, the updos combined with braids by Son Jung and giant finger waves by Lela Rose were certainly not the only extravagant top hair styles seen in NY Fashion Week shows.
